Haemorrhage From Varicose Veins And Palm: Varicose veins are abnormally dilated veins in legs, which are visible on skin, they are pain full and cause swelling, heaviness, and skin changes like skin ulcers, dermatitis, itching, and difficulty in walking, they cause problems especially in overweight, pregnant and diabetic people.
Varicose veins are dialed veins and their walls are weak, they can rupture and cause bleeding underneath the skin, they are also at risk of being traumatized and injured by minor cuts and abrasions, varicose veins can bleed profusely because blood runs through them under high pressure.
Especially old and diabetic people are at risk of varicose vein bleeding because mechanisms for controlling blood flow are weaker in these patients.
Diagnosis is obvious by history and examination. After controlling active bleeding, site of involvement of leg veins is determined by Doppler ultrasound of legs, angiography and surgical exploration in case of severe bleeding.
Treatment and management goals are stooping bleeding by elevation of legs, compression bandages, sclerosing agents which constricts the veins to stop blood flow. In case of severe uncontrolled bleeding surgery is done to cut and ligate the bleeding vessels
