Banana

Banana: Who doesn’t know about banana? It is widely spread and favorite fruit worldwide especially of children. Banana is extremely soft, tasty and full of nutrients; it is especially rich in carbohydrates, which include natural and simple sugars, potassium, vitamin C and iron.

Banana is used as first weaning food for infants, because of its easy digestion and smooth texture and numerous nutrients. They give instant energy to body in form of simple breakable sugars, potassium in banana is essential nutrient necessary for normal tissue function like heart, kidney and brain, and in lean and underweight people, bananas are very effective because they help in maintaining ideal weight. Bananas are very effective in diarrhea because they have fiber in it, which regulates gut motility.

Bananas are also used as antidote in some mechanical poisonings like; if some one accidentally engulfs glassy material or as suicidal measure, bananas are given in these cases to mechanically capture the glass in stomach. Bananas are very energetic food in school going children and young adults because they increase alertness and mental activity by giving instant energy.

They are also effective in weight reduction because of their filling effect on stomach. They are useful in kidney disorders because they have low protein and salt content. They should be included in daily diet. Their cheap rates and widespread availability justifies their use in routine diet.
